MANKO: I remember the first lines came from an Ansel Adams showing at the National Gallery in DC, and the rubber glove was a shoutout to "Confederacy of Dunces," which Hunter had recently lent me. Back in those days I kinda thought if I made an oblique reference to everything I read, people would be able to read my mind. We had a whole meh song called "Shogo" about Ronald Reagan as a character in Edward Bond's "The Narrow Road To The Deep North."
